Hello there!
Welcome to the very first post of this new blog. I’ve decided to create this site to have a space for myself to write, share guides, and talk about technology.
I might try and go for the Microsoft MVP award at some point, but I want to try and be as technology agnostic as possible. The trouble with that is that Microsoft is everywhere. We’ll see how it goes.
I created this WordPress site on Ubuntu in Azure. It’s proxied through Cloudflare for security, caching, and CDN. I won’t go into the specifics, but it should be nice and performant.
I’m a big fan of a bit of PHP so you can expect animations even in boring blog posts! People I work with probably already know that I’m a fan of animations, they’re good at explaining things without the need for a bunch of words, which is good to demonstrate technical stuff.
In addition to the work I do in the corporate and commercial world of technology, I also do a lot of work in the education sector in the UK. This is why I’ve chosen to use Vermeulen Group as my anchor for this site, because it’s linked to that work.
So what’s next? I recently just finished my MBA, and with a bit of spare time on my hands, have decided to start writing more. I’d like to do something to try and help others in the world of tech, which will come in the form of blogs, and ultimately a book (or two!).
I will try and add more functionality to this site as time goes on – I’ve always liked the idea of hosting a forum, and given the number of entrepreneur and technology groups I’m a member of on WhatsApp and Signal, I think that might be a good idea!
